The Old Frees' Association's Universal Children's Day was held at the OFA Bay Avenue on Sunday 25 November 2012 from 3.00 - 5.00 pm. It was organized by the OFA Bay Avenue Family & Community sub-committee comprising Lee Eu Beng, Friiscor Ho, Lim Wee Seong and Molly S.C. Ooi. Tthere were a total of 45 people attending, comprising members, their children and grandchildren.
Universal Children's Day is a global observance which was established by the United Nations in 1954 to encourage understanding between children and promote children's welfare around the world. It is held on 20 November, the same day the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. Parents attending received fact sheets on the 'Rights of a Child'.
All children and parents had a wonderful time with our very funny clown Shannon Yeap who gave the children so many balloons in different shapes according to their requests. He also conducted games with prizes for winners and presented a most entertaining magic show involving participation from both children and parents.
Everyone enjoyed a sumptuous tea with ample finger food for all.
It was a well spent, happy afternoon for families. Parents who attended even requested for more such events in future.
